Good morning, Temple.

AAA Texas reported that Temple's summer regular unleaded gas is now averaging $2.81 per gallon—the lowest prices since 2021 due to a well-supplied oil market.

Prices are nine cents above those on July 4 and 35 cents below last July 11 levels while drivers across Texas face different costs.

Bell County Historical Commission received the 2024 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission for its work to preserve local heritage — a recognition of its dedication to promoting the region’s culture.

The City of Temple said it moved firefighters from Fire Station 2 after testing on July 3 confirmed that black mold had spread throughout the building (Stachybotrys mold) and officials noted the issue was first seen in November 2022 before planning to buy a mobile home (for the crew) as part of a full station fix.

A former Temple police officer and the city of Temple were denied by a federal judge in their attempt to dismiss a $10 million lawsuit over the death of Michael Dean—the case will now move forward for further proceedings.
