- ➤ AAA Texas reported that Temple's summer regular unleaded gas is now averaging $2.81 per gallon—the lowest prices since 2021 due to a well-supplied oil market. Prices are nine cents above those on July 4 and 35 cents below last July 11 levels while drivers across Texas face different costs. KCEN-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bell County Historical Commission received the 2024 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission for its work to preserve local heritage — a recognition of its dedication to promoting the region’s culture. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ The City of Temple said it moved firefighters from Fire Station 2 after testing on July 3 confirmed that black mold had spread throughout the building (Stachybotrys mold) and officials noted the issue was first seen in November 2022 before planning to buy a mobile home (for the crew) as part of a full station fix. - ➤ A former Temple police officer and the city of Temple were denied by a federal judge in their attempt to dismiss a $10 million lawsuit over the death of Michael Dean—the case will now move forward for further proceedings. Temple Daily Telegram
