  • Wes’s Burger Shack and Feed My Sheep are providing free Thanksgiving meals for residents—aiming to support those in need when many local businesses are closed for the holiday.  Temple Daily Telegram
  • This Saturday the Friends of Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will hold its annual wreath laying ceremony—volunteers are needed to assist following last week's preparation event.  Killeen Daily Herald
  • Today, Pustka's Family Barbecue in Temple is serving home-cooked turkey, dressing, pumpkin pie & sides to 21 local families for Thanksgiving, a tradition that began three years ago. Owner Dustin Pustka said the effort helps community members facing high grocery costs.  KCEN-TV
  • A Temple resident set up a community blessing box on Broken Shoe Trail offering free food, toiletries & homemade meal kits to neighbors in need through Christmas. Scott Huntley started the project after the government shutdown inspired similar social media efforts and plans to keep the box stocked for many holiday seasons.  KXXV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Temple homeowners near the Niagara Bottling plant have reported a foul odor that has affected the area for years—making some residents feel nauseous and unable to enjoy their yards. They have contacted the city and now worry that a pending rezoning request for a nearby chemical facility may worsen the problem.  KCEN-TV

  • Temple City Council approved a $93,500 bronze statue honoring Reuben Talasek at the Bend of the River property — future developments for the site are planned following a legal settlement.  Killeen Daily Herald
