- ➤ Fort Hood dining halls hosted their annual Thanksgiving meal competition Tuesday — offering soldiers creative holiday meals and festive displays — that gave those who could not travel home a warm place to celebrate. Killeen Daily Herald

- ➤ Temple's 79th Annual Christmas Parade took place Monday night downtown—over 100 Lone Star themed floats offered free holiday entertainment for families amid challenging economic times, with hundreds lining the streets to celebrate. KXXV
- ➤ Wes's Burger Shack in Temple will serve a free Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov 27 at 1 p.m. to anyone in need—restaurant owner Wesley Teeters will cook turkey and prepare dressing as community members donate sides, desserts, and cash while volunteers share fellowship and pray with guests. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bell County launched the RightSite program on Oct. 20 to give residents a telehealth option when calling 911 for non-emergencies—helping to keep ambulances available for true emergencies. Callers can opt to speak with a board-certified doctor by phone or video within two to three minutes at no cost. KCEN-TV
- ➤ The Central Texas Housing Consortium updated its policies to improve safety—expanding background checks and allowing women and US citizens to join its business enterprise programs. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ The City of Temple posted a new waste collection schedule for Thanksgiving week (including cooking grease pick-up times) to ensure holiday services continue. Residents are advised to follow the revised schedule for proper service. Temple Daily Telegram
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Whooping cough cases in Central Texas have more than tripled since January with over 3,500 reported, and doctors warn the illness can lead to dangerous coughing spells (especially in infants).
