EDUCATION NEWS

- ➤ Killeen ISD approved turnaround plans for Eastern Hills, Palo Alto, and Manor Middle Schools to boost student outcomes with targeted steps in curriculum, leadership, and staffing—final plans will be submitted to TEA by November 14. The district has set specific STAAR goals and outlined contingency measures if the efforts do not succeed. KXXV
- ➤ Temple ISD voters approved two proposals on the November 4 ballot—one to add $2.75 million a year for safety upgrades including more police officers and security systems, and another to provide $119.7 million for new classrooms at several schools. The board will canvas the votes on November 17. KXXV

- ➤ Central Texas Youth Services, a nonprofit that has helped over 200 youth each year since 1970, is facing funding delays as a government shutdown has put thousands of dollars in federal grant money on hold—local donations have also dropped, leading the group to rely on a food drive at Temple businesses.
