- ➤ Jennifer Zavodny, a teacher at Academy ISD, wrote a pumpkin-themed book to help her students learn — she now offers it to the public. The teaching tool was developed at Little River Academy. Killeen Daily Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ After recent rain, several Central Texas counties—including Hill, Bosque, McLennan, Madison and Bell—lifted their burn bans; Hill ended its ban at 9 a.m., Bosque at 9:15 a.m., McLennan on Sunday, and Madison and Bell on Monday. KXXV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the City of Temple and the Village of Salado for earning the Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation from Travel Texas after meeting all required benchmarks — the designation is expected to support local tourism efforts. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Reconstruction of Old Waco Road from Tarver Drive/Jupiter Drive to Riverside Trail in Temple will soon include a detour at the Riverside Trail intersection—drivers should follow the new route as work continues. Killeen Daily Herald
