EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hailey Czerwinski (an Academy ISD student) spent over 200 hours sewing therapy dog vests and refused any payment for her work. Her project shows her strong commitment to helping therapy animals using her sewing skills. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Several high school bands in Central Texas earned straight 1s in the UIL Region 8 Marching Contest and will move on to the Area competition — Belton High’s March 100, Hillsboro Eagle Band, Temple Wildcat Band, and A&M Consolidated High School Band and Guard all advanced — with the Temple Wildcat Band set to compete in Round Rock on Oct. 25. - ➤ The Central Texas Area Alliance of Black School Educators will host its 2025 Parent Conference on Saturday at the Killeen Arts and Activities Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.—parents can meet with educators at this event. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Bell County voters began early voting on a $161.8 million bond package for Belton ISD to fund safety updates, repairs to aging facilities, athletic stadium improvements, technology upgrades and swim center renovations. If all four propositions pass, most homeowners will face a one-quarter-cent tax increase — residents 65 and older pay no extra tax — as voters help shape the district's future. KCEN-TV
