- ➤ Temple officials said the Wilson Recreation Center stays open despite a rat problem that has seen about 20 rats captured over the past month as a contractor works to fix it — Public Relations Coordinator Megan Price said there are no immediate health risks for workers. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters from Central Bell Fire Rescue and neighboring agencies fought a 15-acre grass fire near Little River Academy on Sept. 30 along FM 1123 and Campbell Hill Road, working for about two hours to contain the blaze — with no injuries or property damage reported. KCEN-TV
- ➤ On Tuesday afternoon, a brush fire at Summers Mill Retreat and Conference Center in Bell County destroyed more than 15 acres and up to 75 hay bales — the blaze raised wildfire risk in the area. Killeen Daily Herald

- ➤ The Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department opened a new helicopter pad at Station 2 in Davilla today—PHI Air Medical helicopters from Temple will now land directly to save critical seconds during emergencies in rural Milam County. KXXV
- ➤ Deputy Chief Allen Teston has been named Interim Chief of Police in Temple — he brings nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 26 years with the department, as a nationwide search for a permanent chief begins in early 2026. KXXV
