- ➤ Temple city officials approved more than $600,000 to improve playgrounds in two city parks so that families get safe places to play — the work will start soon to offer better recreation for local children. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ Temple is set to host the Tanglefoot Music and BBQ Festival on Sept. 12–13—bringing live music, Texas BBQ, and thousands of visitors downtown while road closures and city facility shutdowns remain in effect through Sept. 15 to allow for cleanup and setup. KCEN-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Temple and Belton school districts say many students still lack the required health and counseling consent forms mandated by law. Parents need to submit these forms soon—without them, students may miss important school services. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ Temple ISD said Sampson-Howard Elementary, which opened in August 2024 as its first new campus since 1998 and serves as the area's only Fine Arts Academy, has earned four Stars of Distinction — design, value, wellness, and transformation — after being chosen for the TASA/TASB 2025-2026 Exhibit of School Architecture. The project built by Stantec and recognized as a Caudill Class project will be showcased at txEDCON 2025 in Houston on Sept. 12-13. KCEN-TV

- ➤ A new Texas law — Senate Bill 2929 — now lets officials eject unruly fans without warning or appeal, and Temple ISD Athletic Director Steve Prentiss said parents who misbehave at games risk penalties at other school events. School districts and police plan to enforce the rule at upcoming UIL games. KCEN-TV
