CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Temple Police identified a 57-year-old man, Paul Rodriguez, as the suspect killed in the Friday shooting outside the department headquarters. The Texas Rangers were called to investigate after officers discharged their sidearms when he pointed his air pistol at them. KXXV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Temple College said it received a $100,000 grant from Meta for a new AI and robotics lab in the Workforce and Visual Arts Building — the funds will buy 21 high-performance computers and build a robotic manufacturing system expected to be ready by September. The lab will serve students, veterans, businesses, and the community with hands-on STEM learning. KCEN-TV
- ➤ Over 1,300 teachers, administrators and staff gathered at the Mayborn Civic and Convention Center to celebrate the 2025-26 school year—Temple teachers said goodbye to summer with music, awards and a pep talk. Temple Daily Telegram
