COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Temple community gathered Friday morning at Vista Community Church at 7051 Stonehollow for the funeral service of Officer Toalua (Charlie) Aumua. A GoGundMe was set up to help support his family as they faced the coming weeks.  KXXV

CRIME NEWS

  • A man died on August 7 after a standoff at the Temple Police Department when he pointed his pistol at officers who tried to calm him—Temple Police and the Texas Rangers are investigating the incident while the involved officers are on administrative leave.  KCEN-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Central Texas College celebrated nearly 500 graduates during a summer ceremony on Friday evening at the Christian House of Prayer in Killeen—attendees cheered as graduates were honored for their hard work.  Killeen Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A virtual Temple City Council meeting was disrupted Thursday when a male voice using the Zoom alias 'Chelsea Adams' unleashed a tirade of racial slurs + inflammatory remarks that raised legal concerns in Temple.  Temple Daily Telegram
  • Temple City Council approved over $250,000 to fix a black mold problem at Fire Station 2 after public outcry + the funding will repair the facility to safeguard local firefighters.  Killeen Daily Herald
