COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Temple Police Department officers and local residents held a procession and offered prayers to honor an officer who drowned in Lake Belton — support came from across the county and state as the community mourned his loss.  Killeen Daily Herald

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Temple Police Department responded to a northbound motorcycle crash near the 299 exit of I-35 early Tuesday morning—traffic was rerouted at the Midway exit while emergency crews worked the scene.  KCEN-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • 6 News has published its Back-to-School Cheat Sheet for local families to get ready for school—offering tips on budgeting for supplies, planning lunches, and decorating lockers—while educators share advice on easing first-day jitters.  KCEN-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bell County Commissioners Court approved changes to four polling places on Monday due to site-specific issues like building sales and owner non-participation. One polling location in Temple will move from Grace Temple Ministries to Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy (1717 E Avenue J) while sites in Salado, Rogers and Killeen also shift to new venues.  KXXV
  • A home on Blackfoot Drive in Temple is under investigation after neighbors reported a large trash pile that raised public concern. City officials said they are seeking a warrant to clean the property — the owner may face fines up to $1,000 if the violation is not fixed.  KXXV
