Good morning, Temple.

Today, the Temple community gathered to support 8-year-old Jenna Burgess, the sole survivor after four family members died in Hill Country floods during the Fourth of July weekend.

The Burgess Family Benefit — which offered food, live music, and a volleyball tournament — raised funds to establish a trust fund for her future care and education.

Woods Flowers celebrated its 75th anniversary as the owner, who works all day on her feet designing products, reflected on her many years in business and the challenges she has faced.

The shop has dealt with interruptions—international drug smugglers have disrupted its operations—and it plans to keep serving its customers.

City officials at Temple continue to debate the property tax exemption for disabled veterans established in the Texas Constitution in 2007 + they are meeting soon to consider potential changes.
