GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Temple Fire Station 2 was closed after toxic black mold prompted an evacuation from July 1–3 and workers moved to Station 1 with temporary living quarters set up by the city. City officials said a full renovation will begin late 2025, with construction expected to take 14–18 months at an estimated cost of $1.1 million. KCEN-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Elizabeth Jennings led a mental health empowerment event in Killeen this past weekend during Minority Mental Health Awareness Month—she organized hands-on activities, expert panels, and workshops to support minority youth facing systemic barriers. Jennings founded Boys Matter to Men as a mentorship nonprofit to connect older male mentors with Black youth, drawing on her personal experiences with mental health challenges. KXXV
