- ➤ Extreme Cheer & Tumble, a Temple gym hit by a tornado in May, will donate all proceeds from its open gym nights on July 18th and 25th at its Temple and Killeen locations from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm—funding aid for Texas flood victims. KCEN-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas legislators are meeting for a special session next week called by Governor Abbott to improve emergency response after a Hill Country tragedy and to review THC regulation, tax relief and redistricting + state Representative Hillary Hickland said the session will give lawmakers a second chance to refine key bills. - ➤ An unaccompanied veteran—scheduled for burial on Thursday morning—will be laid to rest in a local ceremony. Dog Ridge Water Supply rescinded all boil water notices. Killeen Daily Herald
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Participating Dairy Queen restaurants in Killeen and across the US will host Miracle Treat Day on July 31 to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The fundraiser will offer special treats (available for one day) to support children’s health programs. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Temple Community Clinic has received an $85,000 grant from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation to hire a community health worker and to train its staff. The funding will help improve local services (expected to expand care). Killeen Daily Herald
