Good morning, Temple.

The Salvation Army is launching its first summer red kettle fundraising campaign in Temple to help residents get back on their feet (a wintery chance amid the summer heat).

Temple Mall remains closed after the city locked it in late June over fire and building code concerns, and contractors work on panels — pumps and pipes as tenants adapt by using temporary locations.

No reopening date has been set as officials and repair teams work together.

Bell County Sheriff's Office warned residents after confirming a rabid raccoon east of Temple this summer (officials advise avoiding contact with wild animals).

Water officials addressed a group of retired medical professionals in Temple and urged local residents to plan ahead for rising water demand.

They stressed the need to prepare for future supply challenges.
