CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bell County Sheriff’s Office and Belton Police Department held a press conference Thursday afternoon about a car-involved officer shooting that occurred Thursday morning, and officials said three officers were placed on administrative leave—two teens have been taken into custody as the investigation continues. - ➤ Bell County Sheriff's Office held a news conference on Thursday to update on an overnight officer-involved shooting where a deputy pursued a speeding Mustang on W. Adams in Temple that led to a chase into Belton, a crash, and gunshots that hit an armed suspect, with a Belton officer and two deputies placed on administrative leave. KXXV
- ➤ Temple police arrested suspect Javare Sanders after responding at 12:37 a.m. on June 26 to reports of a person shooting at a vehicle along S. 14th Street — evidence including shell casings and broken glass was found and the victim left the scene in their vehicle. KCEN-TV
- ➤ Thirteen witnesses took the stand in a two-day murder trial in Belton — one witness wore a bright pink shirt to honor her younger brother, Allen Lee Jones, who was shot and killed. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Temple police investigated an aggravated assault incident that occurred Thursday morning at S. First Street and W. Avenue J — a stolen red Ford Mustang shot at two pedestrians and led to one person receiving non-life-threatening injuries. KCEN-TV
- ➤ A Guatemalan man arrested in Temple pleaded guilty to multiple misdemeanor immigration charges—an action tied to a national DOJ effort to curb illegal entry. Killeen Daily Herald
