- ➤ Morgan's Point Resort Fire-Rescue extinguished a fire at a mobile home in Moffat on June 21 and treated one person for smoke inhalation (an empty cooking pot left on the stove started the fire) before crews cleared the scene with vent fans. KCEN-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A magistrate judge recommended denying the City of Temple's motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Michael Dean’s family after he was shot during a 2019 traffic stop — objections must be filed within 14 days, and the ruling links local policy makers to the case. KCEN-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Texas Senate Bill 25 will require all public school students from Pre-K to 8 to take 30 minutes of exercise daily — it also sets new food labeling laws that warn of harmful ingredients and updates nutrition training for medical and nursing students. KXXV
- ➤ Branden Newman was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer after a week-long migraine and had a surgery on May 8 that removed 90% of his tumor—he now undergoes daily chemotherapy and radiation until July 31. His wife Joanna said the Salado and Spring Creek community helped by organizing meal trains and a Boot Out Brain Cancer fundraiser at Johnny's Outback on Friday, June 27. KCEN-TV
