CRIME NEWS

  • Temple resident Micah Springston said she and her daughter were harassed when James Austin Grisham—a Bell County man with a long record of trespassing—peered through their windows at night; he was arrested Tuesday on criminal trespassing and drug charges with a $10,000 bond including GPS monitoring, and she now uses social media to help other families report similar incidents.  KCEN-TV
  • Bellmead officers responded to shootings at the 1500 block of Cloverleaf Drive on June 16 and 17, where multiple people fired weapons without injuring anyone—arresting suspects including Demarcus Davis and Elijah McIntyre while investigations remain active.  KXXV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas Rep. Brad Buckley is calling for changes to the STAAR test system to ease student anxiety while recent scores show academic progress. He plans to review testing models (including multiple assessments throughout the year) and work with educators (from urban and rural areas) to build a less stressful approach.  KCEN-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas lawmakers passed bills that ease restrictions on firearms by preventing civil protection orders from confiscating guns — and legalizing unregistered short-barrel weapons — as the measures now await Governor Greg Abbott’s approval.  KXXV
