- ➤ Temple’s Hot Summer Sounds concert series returns free Friday night concerts—running from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in city parks until August 1—and features rock, country, Tejano and more while inviting families to bring lawn chairs and picnics for an evening under the stars. KCEN-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today the Temple Education Foundation announced its 2025 Distinguished Alumni Honorees—with the foundation recognizing former students for their achievements. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Temple ISD hosted the AI Literacy Arcade—Push to Start Conference on June 6 for nearly 120 educators from six Central Texas school districts. The event featured breakout sessions that gave teachers new ideas for using AI to improve classroom lessons. KCEN-TV
- ➤ Temple ISD Digital Learning Department hosted an artificial intelligence literacy event for educators — the session taught local teachers ways to integrate AI into classroom lessons. Temple Daily Telegram
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Texas Legislature has appropriated $13M to help control pet overpopulation in the Temple area — a historic move that will ease pressure on local animal shelters. The funds await final approval from Governor Abbott and will support spay and neuter programs — a step that also aims to reduce disease risks for both pets and people. KCEN-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ McLane Children's Hospital reported a rise in dog bites among kids in Temple that has resulted in about 30 cases in recent weeks, with most incidents injuring the head and neck. Alpha Leader K9 in Temple said parents should teach children how to approach dogs properly to help prevent bites. KXXV
