COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Texas Today featured two adoptable pets from the Killeen Animal Center: Jackie, a Parson Russell Terrier about one year and seven months old, and Aura, a domestic shorthair cat about one year and one month old. Shelter staff say the pets are ready for adoption and invite local families to meet them—hoping they find loving homes.  KCEN-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Temple College will begin demolishing five campus buildings on Saturday as part of a major redevelopment funded by a $124.9 million bond approved in 2021—Cloud Construction will shut off power on the west side for eight hours while new facilities continue to be constructed.  KCEN-TV
  • Killeen ISD has named 10 experienced educators as principals for the 2025-26 school year; Dr. Bobbie Reeders will remain at Roy J. Smith Middle School while nine other appointees lead one high school, six middle schools, three elementary schools and one specialty high school+ the district said the placements reflect its commitment to student success.  KXXV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Children’s Advocacy Center of Central Texas cut the ribbon for its first satellite office on Fort Cavazos on June 5, making it the first children’s advocacy center on a military installation. The center—formed in a partnership with the Office of Special Trial Counsel and U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division—will offer forensic interviews and support services for military children and families.  KCEN-TV
