CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Department of Justice prosecutors sentenced former Temple resident Demonta Daniels to two life sentences in federal court as the final alleged gang member in a recent judicial pursuit—marking the end of the case. Temple Daily Telegram

- ➤ Governor Greg Abbott signed legislation in Salado on Wednesday that allocated $8.5 billion for new public school funding and $4 billion for teacher and staff raises—local educators and legislative leaders attended the event. KXXV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bell County Public Health District closed its Temple clinic on June 2 because federal funding cuts of $1.4M left hundreds without local immunizations, women’s health, and STD services—while a measles case in an unvaccinated resident was reported, the district is now exploring mobile health units and keeping services open in Killeen and Belton. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Temple ISD announced on Wednesday that former Wildcat Azzie Knox became the new head coach of Temple High School girls basketball. Knox—a 2003 graduate who once averaged 17 points per game and coached at several schools—brings her extensive playing and coaching experience to lead the team. KCEN-TV
- ➤ Temple ISD announced that veteran coach Stacy Largent was named the new head baseball coach at Temple High School—he brings 28 years of experience including 18 years as a head coach at multiple Texas schools.
