COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lions Junction Family Water Park — located at 5000 S. Fifth St. — held a preview event Sunday afternoon and now runs its preview weekend from noon to 5 p.m. today, giving families a chance to enjoy water rides and activities. Visitors can explore the park to see its cool attractions designed for children and parents alike.  Killeen Daily Herald

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On May 17th, U.S. Army veteran Steven Sheldon died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 36 when his bike struck a car, and over Memorial Day weekend TXR Official motorcycle club held a memorial ride near the highway bridge—honoring his passion for riding and the close bonds he built with fellow riders.  KCEN-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Grand Ole Opry members Dailey & Vincent will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Azalee Marshall Cultural Activities Center, 3011 N. Third St. in Temple, and local music fans are expected to enjoy the show.  Killeen Daily Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Temple ISD school board is conducting a self-assessment to explore new ways to improve operations and boost transparency—steps meant to build trust with parents and staff—and plans to implement changes gradually.  Killeen Daily Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Stage 4 water restrictions will begin this week in area cities such as Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Nolanville, and Fort Cavazos—residents must stop washing cars and watering lawns to protect drinking water.  Temple Daily Telegram

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Temple police offer a ride-along program for local residents to experience a day on patrol—interested participants need only complete one sign-up form to join the initiative.  Killeen Daily Herald
  • Temple native law enforcement officer Stephen W. Burres III received an honor of a lifetime at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington—D.C. His rare recognition was given to only a few officers, marking a special achievement in his career.  Temple Daily Telegram
