- ➤ Cities, businesses, and veterans groups across Central Texas plan to honor Memorial Day over the upcoming weekend. Fort Cavazos will release troops for a four-day holiday, giving service members an extended break. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Families in Crisis has provided shelter, housing assistance and veteran support in Central Texas for over 25 years while serving hundreds in need. The organization warns that fragile funding may affect its work as it will launch a billboard campaign called Abusers Say What?—to increase community awareness. KCEN-TV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Temple Police Department identified Steven Sheldon—33 years old and from Killeen—as the motorcyclist killed in a traffic accident on State Highway 36 Saturday—further investigation is underway—. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Three people were taken to the hospital for treatment after Africanized bees stung them on Saturday, May 17 at Morgan's Point Resort on Briarwood Road—rescuers and a civilian helped a tree-trimmer stuck in a tree even as they were stung. KCEN-TV
- ➤ Africanized honey bees attacked three people at Morgan's Point Resort on Saturday, including a responding firefighter and a patrol officer, and all victims were taken to the hospital. Temple Daily Telegram
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Amazon has announced plans to open a (127,000-square-foot) delivery station outside Belton so that more Amazon trucks will travel along the Interstate 35 corridor. Bell County (residents) should see increased delivery service when construction begins. Temple Daily Telegram

- ➤ Central Texas legislators established the new Central Texas Water Alliance after Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 1194— the group will plan water projects, issue bonds and support local providers without tax increases. The alliance will soon appoint board directors and assess urgent regional water needs, though residents should not expect immediate changes. KCEN-TV
