  • At last week's Fort Hood Scholarship Fund banquet, community leader Melissa Sims was honored for her leadership, service and impact. Her recognition underlines the fund's commitment to supporting local contributions.  Temple Daily Telegram
  • Rosebud welcomed its late fire chief Caleb Miller today as neighbors lined the street for his procession following his fatal UTV accident Saturday — visitation begins at 11 a.m. at Westphalia Parish Hall and funeral services are scheduled for Friday.  KXXV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Texas A&M University-Central Texas and state officials hosted a wall-breaking ceremony Wednesday at a northeast Killeen building. Once renovated, the Forge Economic Development Incubator will support transitioning soldiers with business start-ups.  Temple Daily Telegram
  • Commuters in Killeen and at Fort Hood are facing their highest gas prices in four years due to supply limits from a closed Strait of Hormuz. The disruption may keep prices high if global conditions do not improve soon.  Killeen Daily Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Central Texas College will celebrate nearly 1,000 Spring 2026 graduates on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Cadence Bank Center in Belton, where students will be honored for completing their academic programs.  Temple Daily Telegram
  • Temple High School's BBQ team, led by senior Alex Mungia, qualified for a national cookoff after early doubts and will soon compete against top teams from other regions & showcase their grilling skills.  Temple Daily Telegram
