  • Recent hail storms over the past two weeks have led to many calls to roofers about damage in Central Texas—Larry Fischer of Fischer and Sons Roofing advised residents to check that any roofer is licensed, bonded, and insured and to have the roofer meet with their insurance adjuster to mark up the roof. This guidance comes as Fischer warned against fly-by-night companies looking to take a check and leave a home at risk.  KXXV

  • Manuel Oscar Ramirez, 25, was sentenced on +May 2nd+ to +40 years in jail+ for the murder of a Bell County Sheriff Deputy during a vehicle chase five years ago.  Temple Daily Telegram

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Temple High School students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Theory of Knowledge course showcased their capstone projects during a recent exhibition—presenting the key work required by the program.  Killeen Daily Herald

  • A Temple worker pumped water from the flooded corner of Fourth Street and Avenue A May 2 — while another directed traffic as heavy rain from a storm affected downtown.  Temple Daily Telegram

SPORTS NEWS

  • Killeen ISD named Alisha Jones as the new head coach for Ellison girls basketball. Jones, an Ellison High School graduate who played at Minot State University, replaces Sherry McKinnon who is retiring after 18 seasons.  KXXV
  • Bishop Reicher Catholic School's track team, made up of (four freshmen and one sophomore), will run the 4 x 400 meter relay at Midway today during the TAPPS State Meet. The team earned its third straight invite to state competition.  KXXV
