ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Temple woman (30-year-old Emily Grace Meyer) died on Thursday when her 2016 Chevrolet Malibu lost control on wet roads and struck an oncoming Dodge Ram on Highway 36 near Belton Lake; the truck driver was treated for injuries. KXXV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ In Belton, the ongoing murder trial of Caysen Allison saw the legal teams and the judge debate the wording of final charges—heated testimonies ended as arguments over charge definitions took over. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ In the Caysen Allison murder trial, both sides rested their case on April 24 as the judge excused the jury until Monday, May 5 at 9 a.m. (body cam videos and witness accounts of past conflicts were shown) while he plans to review charges and schedule closing arguments. KCEN-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Temple crews will close the Industrial Boulevard intersection at State Loop 363 starting Monday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Friday, May 2 for bridge work as part of the TxDOT widening project. KXXV
- ➤ Bell County Commissioner's Court voted 4 to 1 to deny a property tax exemption for Rising Star-certified childcare centers, leaving Temple daycare owner Ebony Marriott frustrated that the funds could help with facility improvements. Commissioner Louie Minor supported the measure (estimated to cost the county $80,000) while Judge David Blackburn raised concerns over timing and lost revenue. KXXV
