  • Renee Brown, a 59-year Temple resident, is still repairing her home one year after a spring tornado left it with shattered windows, a broken roof, and vandalism. She said FEMA gave only $700 when she needed $7,000—she is now buying emergency supplies to be ready for another storm.  KCEN-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Last week in north Killeen, a 27-year-old man was charged with murder after he fatally shot a man who tried to block an intruder from a gathering.  Killeen Daily Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • The City of Temple has released the music lineup for its first Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival, which will be held from September 12 to 13 at MLK Festival Grounds near downtown Temple. City officials said the event will feature live country music and barbecue from local vendors to celebrate Texas culture.  KXXV
