CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor produced its 86th annual Easter pageant in front of the Luther Memorial where students re-enacted key Gospel scenes—Jesus showed the scars on his hands, raised a dead girl, and was taken away by Roman soldiers. The performance ended when an angel announced his resurrection. Temple Daily Telegram
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Hunter Sims is named the new Vice President for Athletics at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and will begin on June 2. He comes from Howard Payne University and has many years of sports leadership experience — he served as an athletics director and coach. KXXV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local beekeeper Melinda Sheffield said she lost between 50% and 100% of her honeybee colonies after herbicides were sprayed along power line easements on her property last June and July. She said she alerted Navasota Valley Electric Cooperative about her hives before spraying resumed and is now working to replace the lost colonies while awaiting lab test results that may take 6 to 12 months.
