- ➤ Central Texans showed support when cousin Robert Royseon led a Maynard Family fundraiser on Saturday to raise money for another search after a boat capsized in Alaska in August 2024 left David, Mary, Colton, and Brantley missing. The Troy Baseball Association renamed their baseball field to Maynard Field on Friday—honoring Colton and Brantley who played for the association. KCEN-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Blake Rutkowski and his father, Gary, operated a robot on Saturday—outside the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum during the Spring into STEM event. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ Belton Independent School District voters in Area 3 will vote on May 3 in an election where long-time residents will choose between incumbent Suzanne McDonald and her challenger. This contest will decide the school board's representation for the area. Temple Daily Telegram
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Independent candidate CJ Grisham will run for the Temple City Council District 1 seat this May and he plans to change growth plans and city ordinances if elected. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ Rogers ISD voters will decide on a $31.72 million bond issue on May 3 to support district projects—voters will choose whether to fund school improvements. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ Belton voters will choose several candidates for the city council on Election Day, May 3 — early voting will begin soon so voters can cast their ballots ahead of time. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ Jessica Walker is running for her third and final term as the District 1 councilmember on Temple City Council. She will continue to build on her past service as she seeks to further serve the community. Temple Daily Telegram
