- ➤ One year after a tornado destroyed her vintage shop, Temple business owner Ophelia 'Ophie' De La Rosa has reopened her business in a booth at Second Wind Resale and Crafts — a space offered by local owner Sheila Whiteley that lets her continue selling her treasures. De La Rosa now sells collectibles in the new location and credits strong community support for helping her recover. KCEN-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A police-involved shooting in Killeen occurred Thursday afternoon when a 24-year-old suspect was critically injured and airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple — police set up a staging area at Larissa and Hondo and asked nearby residents to avoid the area as they work the case. - ➤ Temple Police Department found missing teens Aunastasia and Natalia Herrera on Thursday after Athena Alerts were issued on Tuesday—officials thanked the support of the Waco Police Department, Woodway Police Department and the Department of Public Safety while the investigation continues. - ➤ Temple High School students placed first at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference in Corpus Christi last week—dozens earned medals for their skills. Temple Daily Telegram

- ➤ Texas House Bill 1465 advanced to the House floor after receiving unanimous committee approval and will require those convicted of invasive visual recording to register as sex offenders. Temple resident Cailey Rush testified in support—her former stepfather, once a Temple police officer, was found guilty of secretly recording her during her teenage years. KCEN-TV
