- ➤ Lu Ann Crowe, a Bell County resident, had her home burned down, which destroyed decades of family memories (including mementos of her late husband and son). Neighbors provided money, clothing and supplies while she plans to rebuild her home with a modular structure (showing strong community support). KXXV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A shooting incident at Temple Gun Club resulted in the death of Zakary Michael Jerke, 30, who died Sunday — from a gunshot wound to his head. Killeen Daily Herald
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Temple announced its first Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival set for September 12-13 at the newly renovated MLK Festival Grounds near Downtown Temple — the event will feature over 20 live country music performances and BBQ from top pitmasters. Officials say the festival will boost local culture and the economy while improved trails connect the grounds to Downtown — more details will follow. KXXV

- ➤ The Texas House Public Education Committee in Temple passed House Bill 2 last week—aiming to increase funding per student in local school districts. The measure now moves to legislative review for further steps to support local schools. Temple Daily Telegram
