COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Psi Delta Tau Military Fraternity + Psi Delta Chi Military Sorority will host a Bowling in Unity fundraiser at Hallmark Lanes on May 2 to raise money for local scholarships. Temple residents can support this community event as it builds funds for education.  Killeen Daily Herald
  • Temple police and fire departments offer summer programs for local youth (registration is limited and waiting lists have started) to teach hands-on skills in safety, teamwork, and community awareness.  Temple Daily Telegram

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hundreds joined the annual Way of the Cross procession on Good Friday morning in Temple; the march slowed traffic & honored Jesus Christ as worshipers walked a wooden cross through key intersections.  Temple Daily Telegram

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Holy Trinity Catholic High School students earned overall distinction and multiple individual awards at a state academic meet, showing the strength of their academic program.  Killeen Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham announced that the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home in Temple is accepting residency applications (for eligible veterans).  Killeen Daily Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • Students from Holy Trinity Catholic High School competed in a state archery tournament after finishing their inaugural season. The event showcased local talent and marked a promising start for the school's archery program.  Killeen Daily Herald
