- ➤ David Kolinek, a Temple resident and former Air Force veteran who once played the trombone at Belton High, is set to fly on an Honor Flight from Austin to Washington, D.C. on April 25—joining veteran friends and his wife to visit war memorials in his first trip to the capital. KCEN-TV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Temple businesses are hopeful about the North Second Street construction project that started last year and closed off customer access, and work will finish in July—letting Twice Upon a Clothesline welcome back visitors. Killeen Daily Herald
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Tosha Dean will attend a pre-trial hearing on April 23 in her $10-million suit against former Temple police officer Carmen DeCruz and the City over the December 2 fatal shooting of her brother Michael Dean — DeCruz was acquitted of manslaughter in February. KCEN-TV
- ➤ Jury selection has continued in the murder trial of Caysen Allison — a former Belton High School student accused of fatally stabbing classmate Joe Ramirez in May 2022. Temple Daily Telegram
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today a court approved the Texas Education Agency to release its A-F Accountability System ratings for local school districts—local school officials had opposed the assessments. Temple Daily Telegram
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ New measles cases were reported in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico as the outbreak spread into central Texas—422 cases have been recorded across 19 counties with two unvaccinated individuals dying. State lawmakers will consider several anti-vaccine bills in the upcoming session. KXXV
