CRIME NEWS

  • Temple police investigated an attempted ATM burglary on the 2900 block of South General Bruce Drive when multiple suspects tried to pull the machine from a building wall at 3:11 a.m. Monday and abandoned their car, with no injuries reported.  KCEN-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Salado ISD seniors are playing Senior Assassin, a tradition where they use water guns to tag assigned targets and win a prize pool while making new friends before graduation. School administrators and law enforcement stressed safe play today by banning realistic toy weapons, and they confirmed that school property is a safe zone — a rule meant to keep the game fun and secure.  KCEN-TV
  • Representative Brad Buckley of District 54 talked about education reforms in the legislative session and said he will work to pass a bill to add nearly $9 billion to public schools and end the STAAR test. He also pushed for stronger school safety and discipline rules after a Killeen ISD stabbing and backed Speaker Dustin Burrows in the House race — his plans aim to support Texas students and families.  KCEN-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Temple is working on an I-35 Corridor Plan to add overpasses and beautify a 10-mile stretch from Troy to Belton. City officials said the work will be done in phases using money from the annual budget while some business owners worry that construction may slow traffic—concerns they expect the plan to address.  KXXV

HEALTH NEWS

  • More than 212,000 pounds of liquid egg products were recalled after federal food safety officials reported they might be contaminated with a bleach cleaning solution. Cargill Kitchen Solutions pulled Egg Beaters + Bob Evans Better'n Eggs products produced March 12-13 and shipped them to Texas + other states, and consumers are advised to discard or return the items as no illnesses have been reported.  KCEN-TV
