COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 50 volunteers built 40 beds for children in need at the Aldrich-Thomas Realty Group location in Temple on Saturday morning. The new Bell County chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace plans monthly build events (with support from the Rotary Club of Temple) and seeks additional donations and volunteers.  KCEN-TV
  • Temple and local nonprofit Feed My Sheep launched Pathways to Stability to help residents experiencing homelessness get streamlined support; the city invested $100,000 from Community Development Block Grant funds to back the effort.  Temple Daily Telegram

CULTURE NEWS

  • Island Chesa Day took place Saturday in Killeen with community members celebrating Chamoru culture by dancing, enjoying local cuisine, and shopping from small Texas Chamoru businesses (a key part of Chamoru Heritage Month).  Temple Daily Telegram

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported that gas prices remain stable in the Killeen & Fort Hood area with costs starting at $3.42. The report shows that prices have not increased over the past few days.  Killeen Daily Herald

  • Students from Temple and Belton learn about hydroponics as Teacher Catlain Melendez uses grow towers in her classroom to teach sustainable agriculture and provide fresh lunches.   • Central Texas College announced last week that Chancellor Michele J. Carter was chosen as one of 23 community college leaders nationwide to join the Aspen Fellowship for the 2026–2027 cohort.  Temple Daily Telegram

  • Temple Community Clinic, serving Bell County residents for over 30 years, has saved taxpayers $18.3 million & reduced ER visits by providing primary care & chronic disease follow-up to uninsured & underinsured patients.  Killeen Daily Herald
