EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Killeen ISD reported Monday that four Career Center students qualified for a national education competition after earning top scores at a Texas Association event — school officials said the win highlights the center’s academic strength and more details on the contest will follow soon. - ➤ Temple ISD elementary students from seven campuses were recognized this week for their art work & each student received a medal or ribbon at the district competition. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ The KISD board will consider a proposal to transfer Manor Middle School to a charter network from Colorado. The decision will determine the future educational management of the school and could affect local families. Killeen Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State officials urge safe, sober driving as spring break approaches in Temple and the surrounding area; they advise planning ahead for increased traffic and smoother travel. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ City officials said Sammons Community Center will not reopen because structural damage was too extensive + a bond measure to fund a rebuild may be voted on this November. Seniors who relied on the center for activities and connection must now seek new community spaces. KXXV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Gregory-Portland Ladycats won a District 29-5A softball game against the Corpus Christi Ray Lady Texans, tallying 19 hits and capitalizing on eight errors for an 18-6 victory. Their record now stands at 3-3. Killeen Daily Herald
