BUSINESS NEWS

  • In February, Bird Creek Brewing in Temple won the 2026 Brewery of the Year award from the Texas Craft Brewers Guild after earning four medals for its craft beers including Galactic Crackle and Bare Bones Disco. The competition featured 930 entries from 142 breweries.  KCEN-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Temple High School students and veteran Belton ISD competitors earned awards at a regional history fair last week — a notable achievement that highlights local history education.  Killeen Daily Herald
  • The Stewart C. Meyer Harker Heights Public Library invites locals to join a book club or homeschool meet-up and pick up a new read at the library.  Temple Daily Telegram
  • The Temple Cultural Activities Center will host a Lunch & Learn on generative AI for small businesses in the coming days. Local owners, entrepreneurs & creatives can learn practical tips on how artificial intelligence may work for them.  Temple Daily Telegram

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Temple veterans pushed back when a VA rule threatened to lower disability ratings based on medication performance — the rule’s enforcement was halted on Feb. 19 after strong feedback from veterans and lawmakers. They now await further action as officials gather public comments on the rule.  KCEN-TV
  • Killeen City Council approved a (6-0) interlocal agreement with Central Texas College and Temple College to expand EMS ride-outs with the Killeen Fire Department, letting EMS students gain certification hours. The agreement renews annually for up to 5 years with no cost to the city.  KXXV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Lollipops is a new Cajun restaurant in downtown Temple that opened four months ago, serving family recipes and bold Louisiana flavors from dishes like fried ribs and cheesy crawfish po’boy.
