EDUCATION NEWS

  • Killeen Independent School District trustees will vote at the next board meeting on a resolution to set aside time during the school day for prayer and reading of religious texts (community input details have not yet been released).  Killeen Daily Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Texas A&M Forest Service now offers a cost-share program to help property owners remove infected trees or trench to limit oak wilt's spread, and they require professional verification before funding applies (oak trees cannot be replanted in the same spot).  KXXV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Blinn College split a doubleheader against Temple College on Wednesday at Leroy Dreyer Field in Brenham, winning 5-3 before dropping a tight 1-0, 11-inning game. Blinn will face McLennan Community College in a series starting Friday with a doubleheader in Waco and a finale in Brenham on Saturday.  Killeen Daily Herald
  • The Lady Wolves clinched their first district title in 23 years with a win over Temple on Tuesday at Shoemaker High School — a milestone that sets the stage for their upcoming playoff match against DeSoto.  KCEN-TV
