COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Next week, the Bell County Youth Fair will take place at the Cadence Bank Center in Belton, featuring FFA students, livestock events, and rodeo competitions. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ The Bell Community Foundation (serving local nonprofits) opened its 2026 grant application period for Bell County organizations to apply for funding to support their programs and projects. Killeen Daily Herald
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, Feb. 1, Callie (a 7-year-old Australian shepherd-German shepherd mix) fell into a well at a rural Bell County home, prompting the sheriff’s office and Little River Fire Department to coordinate a rescue at 2 p.m. The dog was recovered with no injuries. KXXV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Central Texas school districts, including Temple ISD, received new TEA guidance on student walkouts for political activism. Temple ISD said it will follow the guidelines (issued by TEA on Feb. 3) to keep students in class and maintain a safe learning environment. KXXV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tuesday night, Belton business owners met with State Rep. Hillary Hickland at Schoephf's BBQ to discuss TxDOT’s plan to widen I-35/I-14 from six to 14 lanes and its impact on downtown access. Hickland said she is working with TxDOT on alternatives to protect local livelihoods. KXXV

- ➤ Central Texas National Signing Day is underway with dozens of student athletes signing letters of intent to play college sports in Temple and nearby areas—more signings will be updated today. KCEN-TV
