  • Union Grove Eatery in Woodway will close in 90 days as low foot traffic has driven its parent company to end the lease, leaving vendors to search for new spots near Interstate 35 or the Marketplace area. Customers are sad about losing a local food hub.  KCEN-TV
  • Wes’s Burger Shack, a longtime Temple gathering spot, is under new ownership that will keep serving burgers & community spirit while introducing fresh ideas. The change marks a new chapter for the local staple.  Killeen Daily Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas education officials warned that students, teachers and districts could face consequences if political walkouts disrupt class; Temple-area schools should prepare as absences may lead to lost funding and further oversight.  KXXV
  • Temple Independent School District's purchasing department was honored as one of less than 100 teams meeting professional purchasing standards this year. The recognition reflects the team's dedication to maintaining high-quality procedures.  Temple Daily Telegram

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Central Bell County Fire and Rescue reported 47 calls in January, with wildland fires being the most frequent incidents. The department said its volunteer crews took an average of 81 seconds (one minute and 21 seconds) from dispatch to arrive at a call.  KXXV
  • City officials appointed Erin Gaines as the new assistant director of Temple Libraries & Museums, completing the department’s leadership team.  Temple Daily Telegram
