- ➤ Temple College marked its centennial on Jan. 16 by cutting the ribbon on a new 109,000 sqft Main Building that houses 21 classrooms, labs, a testing center & conference areas for up to 650 people, as part of a $124.9 million bond program to enhance campus facilities. KCEN-TV
- ➤ A former Army Blackhawk mechanic and crew chief now living in Belton is touring Temple ISD elementary schools this week to share her military lifestyle during the Igniting Young Minds event (a program aimed at sparking curiosity among students). Temple Daily Telegram
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Meta and ION Water have partnered on a water conservation project that aims to return over 26 million gallons + support Temple’s water system. The initiative was announced to help balance local water needs. Killeen Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Rep. Brad Buckley is pushing for more enforcement on FM 2843 near Salado after residents reported near crashes and broken windshields from speeding gravel trucks (Texas DPS has increased patrols along the road as he works with lawmakers on long-term safety measures). KCEN-TV
- ➤ A & P Water Supply has issued a boil water notice after a fiber bore crew hit its water main. Customers from FM 1 & FM 2517 South to FM 31 must boil water for drinking, cooking, and ice making until officials lift the notice. Killeen Daily Herald
