- ➤ The Central Texas College Police Academy honors former Officer Elijah Garretson, known for saving a fellow cadet, who died Jan. 10. Funeral services (with full police honors) will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Cadence Bank Center in Belton. KCEN-TV
- ➤ Chase Dawson & Presley West were congratulated on Jan. 14 for their achievements in the local community, with officials recognizing their contributions. Their accolade highlights Temple’s commitment to celebrating local success. Killeen Daily Herald
- ➤ Temple and Belton mayors will host the C.A.R.E. Leadership Network’s New Year’s Community Annual Revival Service (3 p.m. Jan. 18) at 156 E Central Ave, where the public is invited to join in prayer. The event aims to unite local communities. Temple Daily Telegram
- ➤ Local historian Joseph K. George and the Texas State Historical Commission are preserving the Pauper Cemetery of Pepper Creek when TXDOT maps from Jan. 14 show the burial ground along I-35 will not be moved, keeping 117+ graves in place.
