CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Waco Central Texas Chapter of Jack and Jill of America will celebrate 70 years of service with a MET Gala on Jan. 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Temple Cultural Arts Activity Center (3011 N. Third St), featuring speakers who honor its legacy. KCEN-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Temple ISD has installed Ten Commandments posters in every classroom while Belton ISD has begun installations (following months of legal back-and-forth between Attorney General Ken Paxton and nearly a dozen families). Killeen Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Temple residents should note that the new One Big Beautiful Bill Act will adjust tax credits and deductions for seniors, service workers, and families with children in upcoming tax filings. A free tax clinic provided by Texas A&M University-Central Texas will open in early February to help explain the changes. KCEN-TV
- ➤ The Hill Country Transit District announced expanded microtransit zones in Bell County, adding new stops in Killeen, Harker Heights, Temple, and Belton to improve local mobility. The update covers key areas such as schools (and parks) to help riders reach destinations. KXXV
