About this event
Salado Historical Society Annual CHili Supper, an evening of history, heritage and hearty chili!
Please bring a sid edish or dessert to share with others.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
There is something special about discovering the stories of those who came before us, especially when those stories are part of the history right here in Central Texas.
The featured special guest speaker is Bob O’Dell, writer and producer of the upcoming documentary Tonkawa: They All Stay Together.
O’Dell will present “The Tonkawa Tribe: What I Wish I Knew a Lot Earlier,” sharing discoveries and little-known stories about the Tonkawa people and their deep connections to Central Texas.
Through years of research, personal relationships, and filmmaking, O’Dell has uncovered historical accounts and developed an understanding of the Tonkawa Tribe. His presentation offers an opportunity to learn about a part of Texas history that deserves to be remembered and shared.
Per Russell Martin, President, The Tonkawa Tribe – “Nobody knows our history or our tribe better than Bob.”
The evening also serves as the Salado Historical Society’s annual membership drive, an opportunity to learn more about the Society’s efforts to preserve and share Salado’s rich history and how you can become part of that mission.
Everyone is welcome.Come enjoy an evening of good food, friendly faces, and fascinating history. For members – bring your favorite side dish or dessert. For visitors (future members) – just bring your curiosity and love of history.
